When women first joined Yale College, there was no plan for them to play sports. Pioneering students began to build what has become a premier women’s sports program, but the records of that period are incomplete.

A group of us who had the pleasure of competing for Yale are now looking for women athletes from that first decade to tell their stories about what it was like. If you played then at any level – varsity, club or other – or if you know someone who did, please contact us. We are putting together a history of that time as part of the upcoming celebration of 50 years of women’s varsity sports at Yale.

Please contact: Barbara Borst, sailing and field hockey, b.a.borst@gmail.com or Jean Parker Phifer, squash and sailing.
