James L. Schroeder, M.D., died in Hobe Sound, FL, on 12/30/14 from complications of acute myeloid leukemia. Jim’s energy, compassion, and quest for knowledge were boundless. A rheumatologist, Jim had been a faculty member of Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago since 1983 and was CEO of Northwestern’s faculty practice plan for many years. Jim had an outstanding career in his chosen profession of which more can be read here. Although not an oncologist, by the time of his death, he had managed to learn almost as much about his disease as those who were treating him. He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Carol Williams Schroeder ’75, who met Jim at Yale, their four children, and two granddaughters. Our hearts go out to all Jim’s family.
