Thank you for your interest in volunteering to help plan and pull off our 50th reunion, set for May 30 – June 2, 2024
Your class officers are forming a steering committee that will begin meeting in August of 2023, the start of a broad volunteer effort that will continue through the reunion weekend next summer,
There will be many roles to fill – small, focussed assignments like reaching out to a list of classmates; and broader roles such as supervising a volunteer team or leading a committee.
Here are the likely categories of volunteer assignments:
Attendance will be the largest volunteer group. We need to reach out to each of 1000+ classmates one or more times to spark interest, preferably arranging a personal contact from a roommate or a residential college mate, or a team or society fellow.
Program will be the effort to brainstorm and execute a schedule of events for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the reunion – speakers, panels and related events (in addition to whatever Yale sets up for all reunion attendees).
Communication – A host of hands-on projects that may include creating a special 50th reunion logo; publishing a physical and/or digital 50th reunion classbook; assembling video profiles of classmates for the class website at yale74.org, and creating email campaigns to support other volunteers.
Swag – What can we create for reunion attendees to take home as souvenirs? Past swag has included ‘74 tote bags, custom Hawaiian shirts, Boynton posters, Kingman Brewster rolling papers, polo shirts, etc.
Entertainment – Lots of TBD here, but we need a crew to figure out appealing entertainment options, whether it is music performance, a deejay, background music, etc. What occasions and events should we create during reunion week?
Class gift – This is a separate effort from the reunion, but an important one. If you have experience or interest in this area we can connect you to the right people.
Thanks again for your interest in creating a memorable reunion weekend.
